Today I’m going to share some ideas for how to get rave reviews.

Here’s the secret: you need to ask!

While that may seem like a no-brainer, if you’re like me I’m sure you too often forget to actually make the ask, even after you have received praise from your clients or other stakeholders.

So my first tip is to be proactive and actually ask for that testimonial.

My second tip is an important caveat – ask immediately following that amazing experience you gave them, or great product or service you delivered. This is when they are most happy and remember the details as to why you you’re so great. Down the line, the shine of that experience will have faded from memory. So don’t just be proactive, be prompt.

Thirdly, make it simple for them. You can do this by preparing fill-in-the-blank answers, or by providing them with a list of suggested talking points based on their project. Your customer will appreciate you doing the thinking for them or, at the very least, give them a starting point to write their own.

And while written testimonials are great and have many uses, my fourth tip is to see if your customer will give you their testimonial on video.  Video takes your testimonial next-level, allowing viewers to more deeply connect with what your customer is saying because they can see their face and know it’s a real testimonial.

Also, don’t let money stand in the way of snagging that amazing testimonial.  Video doesn’t have to be expensive.  Using a virtual platform like Zoom or Streamyard can be a very cost-effective way to capture video testimonials.

As you will see in the video, you capitalize on the value of a rave review when you’re introducing a new product, expanding your services, or putting on an event.  Additionally, employee testimonials can be extremely effective when you’re looking to recruit new people to your team.

My last tip is to make the most out of your testimonials: add them to your website, share on social, link to one in your proposals, and have your best clients, employees or vendors do the selling for you.

Thanks for watching & see you next time!
