3 Tips for Getting Noticed on LinkedIn

Getting attention on LinkedIn is easy… said no one ever. But we all know there is power in being seen. It does take time and it does take effort. So I’m sharing my top 3 tips for creating effective content on LinkedIn. I was inspired to create this video from a conversation I was having with my friend and client, Ananth Koovappady. We were discussing our LinkedIn strategies and he said the reason he’s dedicated to creating good quality video content for his LinkedIn network is because he understands the power of being seen.

Staying top of mind with your network and putting yourself in a position to be exposed to your network’s network is powerful. That’s why consistent content creation is worth the effort. After a time it becomes second nature. And with these three tips in mind, you can create content that makes a splash.

1) Have a Hook

The reality is we all have such little time, so if someone is going to invest time in watching or reading your content it’s because something is in it for them. For that reason, don’t
bury the lead: be clear with your audience what they will get out of your content and position it in an enticing way.

2) Focus on THEM, not YOU

This can’t be stressed enough. No one wants to be sold to. Show, rather than tell, by offering tips like I’m doing in the video that gives viewers a sense of how you can help your clients
instead of listing off your accomplishments or providing a description of your services.

3) Connect on a Human Level

Video provides the power of a smiling face and it’s dynamic content that can really showcase your personality. However whatever medium you’re using you can show your human side by being authentic or even vulnerable, telling real stories explaining shortfalls that you learned from or challenges you overcame. In short, be relatable.
With these three tips in mind you can start creating content that will have people sharing it with others and mentioning you to their colleagues. Again, the more visible you are the more share of mind you occupy in your audience.
