We all know that companies that celebrate, nurture and encourage their diverse workforce are more profitable, have happier employees, and are more successful at recruiting top-tier talent.  That’s why we’ve recently seen companies put more emphasis on creating real change within their policies and culture through Diversity & Inclusion initiatives.  And video can play a key role in helping to communicate your message, and get your to buy into it. 

Best Buy produced a great video featuring several employees telling their stories, along with leaders of the organization discussing why D&I matters to their company. Utilizing an interview style, this piece helps the company make a statement about why a diverse workforce is important. 

And lastly, Salesforce similarly utilized members of their organization to communicate how great it would be if we could see things from another person’s perspective. Here are a few clips from that video.  It’s a well-produced scripted piece, with employees speaking straight to camera.  You really do feel like the participants were able to speak their truth. And the result is extremely powerful  and effective. 

As you can see video can play a critical role, both internally and externally, in implementing a successful D&I initiative. Whatever D&I project you’re working on, putting a focus on authenticity and communicating your message in a thoughtful and meaningful way is key.
